Children’s choir returns this fall and we’re looking for new members. If you have a child grade 2 – 8 who loves to sing, consider signing them up for this fun and important ministry. The choir rehearses once a week and sings two Sunday masses a month. No audition necessary. The only requirements are a willing spirit, a commitment to attend rehearsals and masses, and the desire to share the gift of song with the congregation of Saints Peter and Paul. Please see Geoffrey Scheer, children’s choir director, or Matthew Still, Director of Music Ministry, for more information.
Cantors are an essential part of the liturgies here at Ss Peter and Paul. Singers who serve as a cantor should have good pitch, basic music reading skills, and an ability to help lead the congregation in song. Each cantor is scheduled based on availability and often requires preparation aside from the regular choir rehearsals. Volunteers who feel they may be eligible to participate in this important part of the music ministry are encouraged to contact the Music Director, Matthew Still to set up an audition: (251) 401-7326,
Sts. Peter and Paul Church played host harpist Merynda Adams and violinist Christopher Collins Lee in a concert to benefit the Hoboken Shelter on September 20, 2011. The concert, organized by The Stardust Music Society of NJ, raised funds and awareness for the Shelter and its programs.
Participating in the parish music program is a great way to offer service to the Church and thanks to the Lord. Music ministry is a “giving” of oneself, a “receiving” as well; St. Francis of Assisi tells us: “…in giving of ourselves we receive.”
