UPCOMING EVENTS

Hoboken 9/11 Interfaith Memorial Service

The 9/11 Interfaith Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, September 11, at 2pm at Pier A Park in Hoboken. (Note that this is a different time of day from when it has often taken place in the past.) The one-hour service will involve as broad a range of Hoboken's religious leaders as possible. Participants will offer prayers, scriptural readings, and musical selections, and participate in the reading of the names of the 56 residents of Hoboken who were killed on that day. The celebrations will be followed by the 9/11 Memorial Concert at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Hoboken.

Catholic High School Entrance Exam (COOP)

Attention families of 8th grade students wanting to attend Catholic High School in Fall 2017! The Catholic High School entrance exam (COOP) will be given on November 11, 2016. Students need to register for this exam starting September 1 here, or by calling 1-888-921-2667, or emailing support@coopexam.org.

In addition, the Catholic High Schools are holding their annual admissions fair called HS EXPO. At HS EXPO, parents and students can see many schools at once — college fair style — from 7:00 pm until 8:30pm on the following dates and places:

  • September 26 Archdiocesan Center in Newark
  • September 28 Visitation Academy in Paramus
  • September 29 Primary Prep/St Aeden in Jersey City

For directions and more information visit: Catholicschoolsnj.org or call 973-497-4258.

Thinking Priesthood?

Do you know someone who is thinking about the priesthood? Invite them to the Monthly Holy Hours & Discernment Group offered by the Archdiocese of Newark. Those sessions are a time for prayer, discussion, and fraternity for men thinking about a call to serve as a Diocesan Priest in the Archdiocese of Newark. During the academic year they meet on the Second Wednesday of the month from 7-9pm at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Seton Hall University. Registration is suggested: 973-313-6190 or NewPriestNJ@gmail.com.

Fall 2016: Sep. 7 • Oct. 12 • Nov. 9 • Dec. 14
